The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has picked Mohamed Abdul M’maka to be the new Commissioner for Investigations and Enforcement, starting March 11, 2026.
The KRA Board okayed the appointment after a tough hiring process to beef up the agency’s fight against tax dodging, money crimes, and illegal trading.
M’maka has over 21 years in intelligence, security, and investigations. Right now, he’s the Chief Manager for Intelligence Collection at KRA, a job he’s had since August 2025. Before that, he was a big shot in intelligence at KRA, as Chief Manager for Intelligence Coordination and Operations and Chief Manager for Intelligence Exchange.

Before KRA, he was in charge of security and intelligence at places like Kenya Power, Kenya Airways, and the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission. He also worked for the Kenya Defence Forces as a Field Intelligence Manager and Troop Commander.
M’maka has a Master’s in National Security and Strategy from National Defence University-Kenya, another Master’s in Security Management from Egerton University, and a Bachelor’s in Math and Physics from Kenyatta University.
He’s also a Certified Security Manager and part of the International Security Management Institute and the Association of Corporate and Industrial Security Management Professionals.
Now, M’maka will be in charge of stopping tax fraud, smuggling, and other things that make the government lose money.
KRA is happy about the pick and trusts that he’ll do a great job as they work to get people to pay their taxes and protect Kenya’s money.
