Kirinyaga Senator Kamau Murango is Kenya’s top-performing senator, according to the latest Infotrak survey, which ranked lawmakers based on public assessments of their performance.
Murango scored 69 percent to lead the rankings, ahead of Nyandarua Senator John Methu with 68 percent and Murang’a Senator Joel Nyutu with 65 percent.
Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei ranked fourth with 64 percent, while Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot completed the top five on 63 percent.
Baringo Senator Vincent Kiprono, Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka and Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo each scored 62 percent.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Samburu Senator Steve Lelegwe followed with 61 percent apiece, while Mandera Senator Ali Roba and Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua each recorded 60 percent.
West Pokot Senator Julius Mugor scored 58 percent.
Bomet Senator Hillary Sigei and Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago also polled 58 percent to complete the list of the top 15 performers.
Infotrak said the survey assessed senators on their constitutional mandate to represent counties, protect devolution, legislate and oversee county governments.
The research firm noted that much of the Senate’s work is carried out in Parliament, committee sessions and institutional oversight, making it less visible to the public than other elective offices.
It said citizens nevertheless judge senators largely on their visibility in defending county interests and their ability to translate parliamentary work into tangible benefits for their counties.
The ranking was based on five indicators: protection of county interests, defence of devolution, oversight, visibility and public confidence.
The survey was conducted between January and May 2026 across all 47 counties, covering 290 constituencies and 1,450 wards.
It sampled 87,286 respondents.Infotrak said each county was treated as a separate sampling unit, with sample sizes ranging from 738 to 5,100 respondents depending on population size and the number of wards.
Data was collected through Computer Assisted Telephone Interviews (CATI) and analysed using SPSS.
Respondents rated senators, members of the National Assembly and county women representatives on a scale of one to 10, with one representing very poor and 10 excellent.
The final rankings were derived from the average scores awarded by respondents in each county.
