Residents in Nyanza region said on Monday that the latest Infotrak opinion poll reflected what they described as growing support for President William Ruto and his ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party ahead of the 2027 general election.
The poll, released by Infotrak Research and Consulting, showed Ruto as the leading presidential choice if an election were held now and ranked the UDA as the country’s most popular political party, with support drawn from several regions, including parts of Nyanza.
Speaking in Kisumu, resident John Okello said the findings mirrored public opinion on the government’s performance.
“The Infotrak opinion poll is telling the truth. It reflects what many Kenyans are thinking about President William Ruto and the work his administration is doing,” Okello said.
He attributed the president’s support to government development projects, including investments in infrastructure and public services.
Okello pointed to projects in Kenya’s North Eastern region, saying they had helped boost support for the president.
“People are happy because they are seeing development they had never experienced since Independence,” he said, referring to recent government initiatives in the region.
Okello also said he believed support for Ruto was increasing in Nyanza.
“The numbers in Nyanza are encouraging. We want our people to continue supporting President Ruto because development benefits every Kenyan regardless of where they come from,” he said.
UDA’s Homa Bay County chairman, Kennedy Obuya, said the survey reflected the party’s growing support in the region and pledged to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the next election.
“The percentage of UDA support in Nyanza is picking up well. We will continue popularising the party at the grassroots, and by 2027 the number of our supporters will have grown significantly,” Obuya said.
He said he expected support for Ruto in Nyanza to increase further as the government implements more development projects.
Obuya also said the partnership between President Ruto and Deputy President Kithure Kindiki would provide stable leadership and support the country’s economic growth and national unity.
The Infotrak survey comes as political parties begin positioning themselves for the 2027 general election, with both the government and opposition expected to step up political mobilisation in the coming months.
