The Nyanza prophetic clergy has praised President William Ruto for launching and inspecting development projects during his tour of the region.
The chairman of the clergy, Bishop Tom Obingo, said the projects demonstrated the government’s commitment to addressing the needs of residents in Nyanza.
Speaking in Kisumu, Bishop Obingo also commended the Principal Secretary in the State Department for Internal Security and National Administration, Dr Raymond Omollo, for coordinating the president’s tour.
He praised residents for giving President Ruto a warm reception and local leaders for ensuring the tour was conducted without incident.
Bishop Obingo said the revival of projects that had stalled would benefit the region and improve access to essential services and infrastructure.

During the tour, President Ruto commissioned the Lake Victoria Water and Sanitation Project and said Kisumu had been allocated Sh44 billion for 12,000 housing units, 20 markets and 12,000 hostel beds.
He also commissioned the upgrading to bitumen standard of the 12-kilometre Rabuor-Chiga road in Kisumu East Constituency and inspected the ongoing construction of the Kisumu-Chemilil-Muhoroni-Kipsitet road.
President Ruto said Sh23 billion had been allocated to road projects in Kisumu County, with nine new roads already under construction.
He launched the Rabuor-Chiga road project on Monday and flagged off machinery for the works, which are expected to take 18 months to complete.
The president said the Kibos-Nyamongo road was also among roads that would be upgraded to bitumen standards.
He said the projects were part of a wider government programme to improve road connectivity and revive stalled infrastructure projects.
President Ruto said the government had paid nearly Sh250 billion to contractors whose projects had stalled because of delayed payments, allowing work to resume.

“Through dedication and planning, we have paid close to Sh250 billion so that contractors who were working on the roads that were stalled can go back to continue construction of roads in our country,” he said.
The president said investment in roads would improve the movement of people and goods, support economic activity and open up poorly connected areas.
He said the Rabuor-Chiga road would improve transport between the affected areas and provide better access to markets and essential services.
Pesident Ruto said the development projects in Nyanza demonstrated his administration’s commitment to ensuring all parts of the country benefit from public investment.
He also defended the broad-based government, saying it was intended to bring communities and counties together and move the country away from politics based on tribalism and discrimination.
The president said voters would have an opportunity in the 2027 General Election to reject what he described as politics of tribalism, hatred and discrimination.
At Kisumu International Airport, President Ruto commissioned a new Air Traffic Control Tower.
He said the facility would improve aviation safety and air traffic management by giving controllers a 360-degree view of the airspace and supporting safer and more efficient aircraft operations.
“This investment strengthens Kisumu International Airport’s capacity and supports growth as a key aviation hub for Western Kenya and the wider region,” he said.
In Homa Bay County, President Ruto inspected the ongoing construction of the Misambi Modern Market in Kabondo-Kasipul Constituency. The market is expected to accommodate 200 traders.

In Migori County, he commissioned a Sh1.4 billion electricity transmission project linking Awendo and Masaba.
The 28-kilometre, 132kV single-circuit transmission line was implemented by the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company and includes a new substation at Masaba and an extension of the existing substation at Awendo.
Officials said the project had improved the reliability and capacity of electricity supply in the region.
In Siaya County, President Ruto commissioned the tarmacking of the Sihay-Bar Ober-Sega road.
He also commissioned the Kalandini-Ka-Elija road, which connects Rarieda, Bondo and Siaya and is expected to improve access to beaches and fish markets.
The president inspected the 200-metre Dhogoye Bridge, which links Usenge town with Got Agulu Island and Osieko.
In Siaya town, he commissioned an affordable housing project and inspected the upgrading of Siaya Level Five Referral Hospital.
President Ruto also inspected the ongoing construction of the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Stadium, which is being built by the Kenya Defence Forces under the Ministry of Defence.
