Located within Ugunja subcounty in Siaya county, St Francis Rang\u2019ala Girls Senior School recorded best results in academic circles by eclipsing well established learning institutions in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school stunned the region by outshining top, well-established institutions, posting an impressive mean score of 9.6 in the last year\u2019s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rangala Girls, a public national school, near Rangala Catholic Church and Rangala Boys did not just perform well, they made history. The candidates secured unprecedented 100 percent transition to university.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

School\u2019s Chief Principal Susan Owino said all the 736 candidates scored a C+ and above setting an academic record since the introduction of Kenya\u2019s 8-4-4 education system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe school has been realizing better mean scores but has never realized  the 100 percent transition to University,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Owino, an alumnus of the school, credited the performance to discipline, teamwork, and consistency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to her, the candidates showed rare commitment, studied in groups, and held continuous discussions right up to the exam period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe have improved over the years, but this is the first time we have achieved a full university transition,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chief principal said they ae not slowing down. The school is now aiming even higher a mean score of 10.5. She noted that the current candidates are capable of attaining the high target.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Owino praised the school Parents Teachers Association and Board of management (BOM) for encouraging the candidates and teachers in order to realize the great outcomes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school has more than 2,780 learners who are  well disciplined. \u201cOur leaners cherish spiritual values given the background of the learning institution which is decades old today,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Notably, Mrs. Owino said the 56 teachers who have been posted by the Teacher\u2019s Service Commission (TSC) are up to the task to achieve better results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also lauded the commission for continued support and appealed for more teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The chief principal, however, said that like many other learning institutions in the country the school also faces inadequate infrastructure and teacher shortages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mrs. Owino said that they are pursing all the three pathways with keen interest on taking part in co-curricular activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In future, she said that they will be forced to expand vertically due to shortage of land. Plans are underway to expand facilities, upgrade the library, and improve computer labs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She added that also need additional laboratories and dormitories moving forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The chief principal said that they are at the moment keen on securing enough  teachers for both French and German in order to conform to changing trends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

She also commended  Ugunja MP Moses Omondi for supporting the school. Mrs. Owino further pledged to take the school to higher level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI would like to see the girls excel and much as possible and be who they desire in future,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With its motto, \u201cDiscipline for Victory,\u201d<\/em> Rangala Girls has proven that with focus, teamwork, and belief, even a school in a remote setting can rise to the very top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
