He termed the registration a major breakthrough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ethokon explained that 267,249 voters were registered through continuous voter registration at constituency offices across the country starting from September 29, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Majority of the new voters, 2,345,476, he said were registered during the 30 day mass voter registration drive that ended on April 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Ethokon lauded Kenyans for supporting the exercise and helping the commission to achieve registration of new voters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The chairman also noted that security challenges affected voter registration in some areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“These included threats and attacks targeting registration staff, which disrupted operations,” Ethokon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
However, he said the commission worked closely with security agencies to ensure the safety of personnel and protect equipment which allowed the exercise to continue despite the challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also praised Kenyans, particularly the youth who participated in the voter registration mobilisation exercise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“We thank every Kenyan who participated in the mobilisation and success of this enhanced continuous voter registration drive in the country. You’re truly our heroes,” Ethokon said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said the young people turned out in large numbers and actively encouraged others to register as well as senior citizens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
