Siaya Governor James Orengo was forced to leave a funeral in Kisumu County on Saturday after surging youths chanting “two terms” advanced toward where he was seated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orengo had arrived at the burial ceremony of Eliud Nyikal Okaka, father of Seme MP Dr. James Nyikal accompanied by a large crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, as the proceedings continued, a group of youths charged at Orengo, shouting “two terms,” forcing him to leave the venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 A section of the rowdy youths later hurled stones at him as he was whisked away into his vehicle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later, on his Facebook handle, Orengo wrote: “To the great people of Seme, I extend my deepest gratitude for the overwhelming love and the heroic welcome you gave me today as I paid my final respects to the late Eliud Nyikal Okaka, father of my friend Hon. James Nyikal (MP Seme), at Ridore Primary School.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He added: “It is both shameful and a national disgrace that a solemn send-off could be disrupted by the State and its lackeys, so rattled by the people\u2019s unity that it resorted to unleashing goons.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orengo said the situation became so tense that the clergy had to cut the service short, calling for an immediate burial without speeches to preserve order and dignity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“But let it be clearly understood no amount of intimidation, no teargas, no hired chaos, and no acts of desperation will silence the Linda Mwananchi Movement,” he said<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Orengo insisted that Linda Mwananchi is a force of the people unstoppable, unshaken, and unwavering in its mission to defend and uplift the voice of every Kenyan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier, Kisumu Woman Member of Parliament Ruth Odinga called on both Linda Mwananchi and Linda Ground to bury their differences and come together, stating that the two sides would be doomed if they do not unite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, who is also the ODM party leader, said they stand for President William Ruto\u2019s re-election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ms Wanga further stated that the late Raila Odinga left them in the broad-based government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Also present were Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, his Migori colleague Ochilo Ayacko, Kisumu Senator Professor Tom Ojienda, and a host of other leaders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
