Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia have been instructed to begin preparations for fresh elections, a move that could end the nearly two-decade leadership of chairman Ambrose Rachier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In a communication to the club, Sports Registrar Rose Wasike said Gor Mahia should initiate the electoral process in accordance with the Sports Act and Sports Registrar Regulations, which set term limits for officials of registered sports organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“The club is expected to commence the necessary processes towards elections in compliance with the law,” Wasike said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The directive follows years of engagement between the registrar’s office and the record Kenyan champions on governance and compliance issues, including the alignment of the club’s leadership structure with statutory requirements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The officials affected by term limits are expected to vacate office once their mandates expire, clearing the way for new elections, according to the registrar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The development places Gor Mahia at a significant crossroads, with Rachier’s long tenure potentially drawing to a close. He has led the club for close to 20 years, overseeing one of the most influential periods in its recent history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
