“There are many who do not understand you well, and because you are not able to explain yourselves, many of you have been attacked by your neighbours and friends. We are saying sorry for that.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The principal secretary urged Burundian nationals affected by the crackdown to ensure they had valid documentation, business licences and registration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He said those with valid passports and the required permits should be able to operate their businesses without harassment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“If you have a business licence, your business will be able to operate well because you have registered well with our government,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Sing’Oei also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting Burundian nationals and other Africans living in Kenya.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
“The government will provide more security to the areas where you live. You cannot be harassed. You cannot be attacked,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He urged residents to report any harassment or attacks to the authorities and ensure their documentation and businesses were properly registered.
