{"id":26673,"date":"2026-09-14T16:48:52","date_gmt":"2026-09-14T16:48:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefocuspaper.co.ke\/?p=26673"},"modified":"2026-09-14T17:16:25","modified_gmt":"2026-09-14T17:16:25","slug":"ruto-commissions-ksh8-4bn-water-and-sanitation-project-in-kisumu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefocuspaper.co.ke\/index.php\/2026\/09\/14\/ruto-commissions-ksh8-4bn-water-and-sanitation-project-in-kisumu\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruto commissions Sh8.4 billion water and sanitation project in Kisumu"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President William Ruto has commissioned a Sh8.4billion water and sanitation project in Kisumu, aimed at expanding access to clean water and sewerage services in the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project was launched on the second day of Ruto&#8217;s four-day development tour of Nyanza region, which includes Kisumu, Siaya, Homa Bay and Migori counties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The president said the project would help address longstanding sewerage challenges in Kisumu, including the need to expand the city&#8217;s existing wastewater system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A major sewerage system is planned for Nyamasaria, which Ruto said would help double Kisumu&#8217;s sewerage capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;We are starting a major project and sewer system in Nyamasaria. It will cost Sh8.4 billion to ensure that the issues of sewerage are addressed,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project will be implemented in three phases. Ruto said the first phase had been launched, while the second was already under way.
