{"id":26896,"date":"2026-09-20T15:21:51","date_gmt":"2026-09-20T15:21:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thefocuspaper.co.ke\/?p=26896"},"modified":"2026-09-20T15:24:39","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T15:24:39","slug":"former-kengen-employee-sentenced-to-11-years-over-forged-certificates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thefocuspaper.co.ke\/index.php\/2026\/09\/20\/former-kengen-employee-sentenced-to-11-years-over-forged-certificates\/","title":{"rendered":"Former KenGen Employee Sentenced to 11 Years Over Forged Certificates<br>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A former Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) employee has been sentenced to pay Sh16 million or serve 11 years in prison after being convicted of using forged academic and disability documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">David Mogire Nyabuti was convicted by the Anti-Corruption Court after prosecutors led by Naomi Isoe proved that he fraudulently obtained public property and presented false documents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Senior Principal Magistrate C. Okore ordered Nyabuti to pay Sh14.95 million in compensation for the public funds he obtained through fraud. He will serve five years in prison if he fails to pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was also fined Sh900,000 for the same offence, with a two-year prison term in default.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nyabuti was further fined Sh200,000 on each of two counts of uttering false documents under Section 353 of the Penal Code.
