Presidential aspirant and former ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo has unveiled an optimistic vision for Kenya’s future, calling for bold economic reforms and inclusive growth ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during an interview on Chamgei FM, Owalo expressed confidence in the country’s potential, urging William Ruto to consider supporting a fresh leadership approach focused on economic recovery and national transformation.
He pledged to serve a single term dedicated to stabilizing and revitalizing the economy.
At the heart of his proposal is a comprehensive economic plan designed to ease the cost of living and stimulate growth.
Owalo outlined significant tax reductions, including lowering income tax, VAT, and corporate tax, alongside eliminating digital taxes to encourage innovation and investment.

To sustain government revenue, he emphasized expanding economic opportunities so that millions more Kenyans can join the tax base.
He also highlighted the importance of accountability and efficiency in public finance, proposing a forensic audit of public debt and measures to eliminate wasteful spending through digitization and transparency.
Owalo’s vision places strong emphasis on social welfare, with commitments to free primary and day secondary education, as well as universal access to healthcare in public facilities.
He believes these investments will empower citizens and build a healthier, more educated population.
A key pillar of his agenda is transforming Kenya into a thriving digital and creative economy, unlocking opportunities for young people and positioning the country as a leader in innovation and sports development across Africa.
Addressing regional development, Owalo pointed to the untapped potential of the Rift Valley, noting that despite its rich agricultural output, many residents have yet to fully benefit from its wealth.
He proposed targeted interventions to ensure value addition, local processing, and better returns for farmers and producers.
Across counties such as Nandi, Baringo, Bomet, Kericho, Uasin Gishu, and Elgeyo Marakwet, his plan focuses on strengthening agriculture, expanding infrastructure, boosting agro-processing industries, and creating sustainable livelihoods.
By aligning resources with modern systems and markets, he aims to turn these regions into engines of prosperity.
Owalo’s message is ultimately one of hope and transformation highlighting practical solutions, inclusive growth, and a forward-looking vision that seeks to create jobs, reduce poverty, and build a stronger, more equitable Kenya.
