Preparations for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) mega rally scheduled for Sunday at Keremba Grounds in Kisumu County have been completed, organisers have confirmed.

Thousands of supporters are expected to attend the highly anticipated gathering, dubbed “Wabiro Kisumu,” which is set to bring together party leaders, elected officials and supporters from across the country.

Members of the organising committee, including Seme MP Dr James Nyikal, Mathare MP Antony Oluoch and Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o, said all arrangements for the event are in place.

Speaking on Saturday ahead of the Sunday rally, Dr Nyikal said the venue has been fully secured and is ready to host the thousands of delegates and supporters expected to attend.

“We have completed all the necessary preparations and secured the venue. We expect hundreds of visitors from across the country and from different parts of the world to join us for this historic gathering,” Nyikal said.

He described the rally as a significant moment for ODM and its supporters, saying it would provide an opportunity for the party to chart its future direction.

“This will be a defining moment for ODM and its loyal supporters. The party’s destiny will be declared during this historic rally,” he said.

Langata MP Felix Odiwuor alias Jalang’o, who is overseeing entertainment and side events, said organisers had lined up a variety of activities to keep supporters engaged throughout the day.

“It is all systems go. We have prepared a number of entertainment sessions and other activities to ensure supporters have a memorable experience,” Jalang’o said.

On Thursday, ODM National Chairperson Gladys Wanga said delegates from the four Nyanza counties would be among those attending the event, alongside party leaders from other regions.

Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko, who chairs the broader organising committee, said elaborate logistical and security measures have been put in place to guarantee a smooth and peaceful event.

Ayacko said supporters travelling from various regions will assemble at designated points before proceeding to Keremba Grounds.

Those coming from Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii and Nyamira counties will gather at Katito, supporters from Kisumu City and its environs will assemble at Kondele.

And supporters travelling from Siaya County and western parts of the region will meet at Ojolla before converging at the main venue.

“All roads will lead to Keremba Grounds, where supporters are expected to arrive from 7.30 am for the main event,” Ayacko said.

He added that organisers are working closely with security agencies and local leaders to ensure public safety, effective crowd management and smooth traffic flow during the rally.

“We want this to be a peaceful, productive and celebratory gathering that demonstrates the strength and unity of ODM,” he said.

National ODM leaders, governors, Members of Parliament, Members of County Assembly and senior party officials are expected to attend the rally in large numbers.

Organisers have urged supporters to maintain peace, follow directions from security officers and cooperate with event marshals to ensure the success of the gathering.
