Kisumu County Assembly has officially taken over the hosting rights for the 2026 County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) games.
The seventh edition of the games will be held in Kisumu from 25 to 31 October 2026, with the hosting rights formally handed over by the Meru County Assembly at a ceremony in Kisumu.
County Assembly Speaker Elisha Oraro said the assembly was ready to host the event and thanked CASA for selecting Kisumu as this year’s venue.

He said sport had an important role to play in promoting harmony and social cohesion in Kenya’s culturally diverse society.
This year’s theme is “Beyond competition: Forging lasting bonds through sports and culture”.
Oraro said the games provided an opportunity for members and staff from the 47 county assemblies to interact, build teams and exchange experiences on legislation, representation and oversight.
He reiterated that Kisumu was ready to host the games and assured participants and guests of their safety during the event.
“We take pride in Kisumu and want all our guests and participants to feel at home when you arrive. We warmly welcome you to the lakeside city,” Oraro said.

Meru County Assembly Speaker, Ayub Bundi Solomon, was represented at the ceremony by Julius Miriti, chairman of the assembly’s Committee on Youth, Gender and Community Services.
Bundi described Meru’s hosting of the games as both a privilege and a responsibility, saying the event had demonstrated that CASA was about more than competition.
“Throughout the participants had seen that the true measure of CASA extended far beyond the medals won or scores recorded,”he said.

He said the games had helped strengthen friendships and professional relationships among members and staff of county assemblies.
Miriti also expressed his appreciation to the CASA leadership, participating county assemblies, officials, members and staff, whose commitment, he said, continued to strengthen the association.
He expressed confidence that Kisumu would successfully host the seventh edition of the games.
“Kisumu will rise to the occasion and deliver an unforgettable experience for everyone,” he said.

“It lies in the friendships formed, the professional bonds strengthened and the spirit of togetherness fostered among members and staff of our county assemblies,” he added.
Throughout the participants, Miriti said, had seen that the true measure of CASA extended far beyond the medals won or scores recorded.
“We are fully confident that Kisumu will rise to the occasion and deliver an unforgettable experience for everyone, long after the final whistle blows,” he said.
He urged Kisumu to carry forward the spirit of unity, sportsmanship and excellence that defines the association.
“May the seventh edition bring us together in an even greater celebration of our shared values,” he said.

Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathew Owili said sporting activities among county assemblies helped participants appreciate different values and promoted togetherness and wellbeing.
He said the games promoted a sense of togetherness and wellbeing among those involved.
“We are fully confident that Kisumu will rise to the occasion and deliver an unforgettable experience for everyone, long after the final whistle blows,” he said.
Owili wished the participating sportsmen and women a safe stay in Kisumu during the event.
