Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi has drawn attention online after photographs and posts showing him interacting informally with residents during President William Ruto’s development tour of Nyanza region.
Sudi, who is known for his public philanthropy, was pictured sitting among residents at Masaba in Kuria West, Migori County, as President Ruto toured the region.
In a post on Facebook, Sudi described himself simply as “just a man sitting quietly somewhere at Masaba”.

He said there were no introductions as he spent time with local residents.
“Not known, not important. Just a man sitting quietly somewhere at Masaba in Kuria West, Migori County during President William Ruto’s day three of his development tour of the Nyanza region.”
The post prompted a series of reactions from followers, many of whom focused on the contrast between Sudi’s public profile and the informal setting in which he was pictured.

One commenter, Patrick Kiplagat, wrote that the residents did not know they were sitting with “a millionaire”, while Kiprono Ngetich described Sudi as a “billionaire inside but just an ordinary human being outside”.
Other commenters urged the MP to extend his assistance to people he met during the tour.
The comments included references to his reputation for helping people, although the individual claims made by commenters were not independently verified.

Sharing a soda in Siaya
The informal encounters continued in Siaya County.
On Tuesday, Sudi shared sodas with residents in Ugenya, joining them for what he described as light moments.

The photographs generated further reactions on social media, with some followers praising his generosity and others recalling previous promises or requests for assistance.
One commenter, Suleiman Mungai, praised Sudi’s “beautiful heart” while reminding him of what he said was a promise to buy him a motorcycle.

Others described him as a generous leader and expressed a desire to meet him.
Following the president’s tour
Sudi’s interactions with residents came as President Ruto undertook a four-day development tour of the Nyanza region.

The president began the tour in Kisumu on Sunday after attending a church service at the Voice of Salvation and Healing Church, where he also launched development projects.
The tour continued in Siaya on Monday and moved to Migori on Wednesday. The president is scheduled to conclude the tour in Homa Bay County on Thursday.

For Sudi, the moments with residents offered a different picture from the formal political events surrounding the presidential tour: a politician sitting among ordinary people, listening and sharing refreshments.
Whether such encounters translate into assistance or other forms of support is ultimately a matter for the individuals and communities involved.

For now, the photographs have provided a glimpse of the informal interactions taking place away from the main stages of the president’s tour.
