Police in Kisumu are investigating the death of an unidentified woman whose body was found in the Kona Mbuta area of Manyatta on Saturday morning.
The body was discovered at about 7am in a corridor within the Skyway area after the incident was reported by Manyatta A village elder, Tom Opiyo.
Kisumu Central Police Commander Edward Nderangu said officers, together with detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), visited the scene and launched an investigation.
The woman, believed to be about 38 years old, was found lying on her back. Residents who gathered at the scene told police they did not recognise her.
Police said a preliminary examination found no visible injuries on the body.

However, investigators suspect the woman may have been sexually assaulted at another location before being abandoned in the corridor, where she later died.
They said the exact circumstances surrounding her death are yet to be established.
Crime scene investigators processed the area before the body was taken to the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.
Mr Nderangu said a post-mortem examination and forensic analysis would be carried out to determine the cause of death and help establish the woman’s identity.
No arrests have been made, and investigations are continuing.
