The chairman of the Luo Council of Elders, Mzee Odungi Randa, has received a Toyota Prado from President William Ruto to support his travels and community engagements.
The vehicle was handed over on Saturday by Osako Junior, who represented Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.
Randa said the vehicle fulfilled a promise made by President Ruto during a visit to State House in March.
He said the president later reaffirmed the commitment during a meeting at Homa Bay State Lodge.
“President Ruto promised us this vehicle in March when I visited him at State House. When I later met him at Homa Bay State Lodge, I reminded him about the promise, and today he has fulfilled it,” Randa said.

She said he planned to use the vehicle to visit members of the Luo community in Kenya and neighbouring countries.
He listed Uganda, Tanzania and South Sudan among his planned destinations, as well as Mombasa and Nairobi.
“I will use this vehicle to visit our people across the region and beyond,” he said.
The council says its role includes promoting unity, preserving cultural traditions and maintaining links among members of the Luo community.
Randa said the vehicle would make it easier for him to travel to different areas and meet elders and community members as part of the council’s activities.
He also urged members of the Luo community to support President Ruto ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“Let us remain behind President William Ruto as we head to the 2027 elections. The late Raila Odinga left the Luo community in the hands of President Ruto, and we should continue working together,” he said.
His comments come as political parties and leaders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.
Osako thanked President Ruto for fulfilling his commitment to the council.
“We thank President William Ruto for fulfilling the promise he made to the Luo Council of Elders. This vehicle will support the chairman in carrying out his duties and reaching people in different parts of the country and beyond,” he said.
Randa said his immediate priority was to use the new vehicle to strengthen the council’s engagement with elders and members of the Luo community in Kenya and across the region.
