Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) youths from six wards in Kisumu Central Constituency have endorsed parliamentary aspirant Bovince Ochieng.
The youths, who met in Kisumu, said Ochieng had demonstrated his commitment to the constituency through activities targeting young people and women.
Those attending the meeting came from Market Milimani, Railways, Kondele, Migosi, Shaurimoyo-Kaloleni and Nyalenda B wards.
Kondele delegate John Opiyo said Ohieng had maintained a presence in the constituency and held meetings with different groups.
“He has been on the ground meeting different groups, including young people and women,” Opiyo said.
He said several young people were pursuing vocational training courses through programmes supported by the aspirant.
Amina Abdi, a delegate from Shaurimoyo-Kaloleni, said women in the area had also benefited from Ochieng’s empowerment initiatives.
She said he had continued to listen to residents’ concerns, including during his time as a chief officer in the Kisumu County government.
Ochieng welcomed the endorsement and said he would continue working for residents if elected as MP.

The meeting also turned to national politics, with the delegates criticising former President Uhuru Kenyatta over his recent comments about the 2022 presidential election.
Ochieng said President William Ruto had been declared the winner of the 2022 election and that the Supreme Court had upheld the result.
He questioned Mr Kenyatta’s position, saying claims that opposition leader Raila Odinga won the election could contribute to political tensions.
Ochieng also called for support for President Ruto’s bid for a second term.
He said residents in the Nyanza region would continue to support the president because of development projects he said had been initiated in the area.
Ochieng thanked President Ruto for what he described as numerous development projects in the region.
