Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru is the most preferred female candidate for deputy president, according to a Politrack Africa poll released on Thursday, with 36% of respondents backing her.
People’s Liberation Party leader Martha Karua was second with 27%, followed by Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga on 15%, the survey showed.
Nine per cent of respondents declined to state a preference, while 7% said they were not familiar with the candidates.
A further 6% selected other female candidates. Waiguru, Karua and Wanga accounted for 78% of stated preferences in the poll.
The survey also measured presidential preferences ahead of the 2027 general election, with President William Ruto receiving 45.1% of responses.

Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna was second with 19.6%, followed by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on 10.3%.
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i received 7.2%, while former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua had 6%.
Another 8.4% of respondents were undecided. Prof George Wajackoyah received 1.1%, while Karua and former Chief Justice David Maraga each polled 0.8%.
Siaya Governor James Orengo had 0.4%, while businessman Jimmy Wanjigi received 0.3%.
The Politrack Research Team survey was conducted from Sept. 15 to 25 among potential voters across Kenya.

Data was collected through a text-based technology platform, with sampled users invited to respond to questions at their convenience.
A total of 20,419 respondents participated. Politrack said the survey had a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points.
The findings come as political activity increases ahead of the 2027 election, with politicians and parties holding consultations and exploring possible alliances.
Ruto has in recent months toured the country to launch, commission and inspect government projects, while Sifuna has stepped up political activity through the Linda Mwananchi movement.
