Environment Principal Secretary Festus K. Ng’eno was among those injured when a Kenya Forest Service (KFS) helicopter crashed while taking off at Kericho Club on Monday morning, according to earlier reports.
In a statement dated October 12, 2026, KFS said that four people, a pilot and three passengers, were aboard the helicopter, registration number 5Y-FSK, and all had been accounted for.
“All the four are safe and accounted for,” the service said.
The helicopter crashed at the golf club grounds near Famous Hotel in Kericho County, sustaining extensive damage.
Photographs from the scene showed the wreckage on a grassy field, with the tail section separated from the main fuselage.

Kericho County Police Commander Kivindu Kilonzo said several occupants had been injured and taken to hospital in stable condition, according to earlier reports.
Emergency responders and security personnel were deployed to the scene as authorities assessed the incident.
KFS said the area had been secured and investigations would begin to establish the cause of the crash.
The service did not identify the occupants or provide details on the circumstances of the incident.

The crash comes after two fatal aircraft accidents in Kenya in recent months.
In August, a helicopter carrying seven people crashed near Mount Ololokwe in Samburu County, killing everyone on board.
The aircraft, which was carrying tourists, struck a rock formation near the mountain’s summit and burst into flames.
In September, a training aircraft operated by the Kenya School of Flying crashed in the Kipeto area of Kajiado West Subcounty, killing a student pilot and a flight instructor.
Initial reports attributed the accident to poor visibility caused by heavy morning mist.
On February 28, 2026, former Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno died in a chopper crash in Chekiep, Mosop Constituency, Nandi County.
Ng’eno was among the six individuals killed.
