Kisumu County Commissioner Mohamed Ramadhan has ordered an investigation into the demolition of a church and an early childhood development education (ECDE) centre by unknown individuals.
Ramadhan said no one was authorised to demolish structures without the necessary approval, stressing that those responsible would face the full force of the law.
He called for respect for the rule of law and said anyone found to have participated in the demolitions would be held accountable once investigations were complete.
The demolished structures include a church and an ECDE centre near the Postal Corporation of Kenya pension scheme flats.
Speaking during Mashujaa Day celebrations at the Kenya Medical Training College grounds in Kisumu, Ramadhan warned criminal gangs and individuals involved in lawlessness that security agencies would pursue them.

He said criminal gangs remained outlawed across the country and warned that those involved in criminal activities would be arrested.
The commissioner also urged parents to take greater responsibility for their children during the long school holidays, warning that parents could be held accountable for negligence if their children engaged in criminal activities.
Ramadhan said social activities would not be permitted in learning institutions during the examination period, as schools would be used as examination centres.

He noted that insecurity in the region had declined but urged residents to remain vigilant.
On public health, Ramadhan said the region was prepared to respond to the Ebola outbreak and urged residents to follow health guidance.
He also cautioned residents against consuming illicit alcohol and reiterated that discos held during funerals remained banned.
The commissioner urged eligible residents to register as voters ahead of the next general election and encouraged those without national identity cards to obtain them.
