Two men have been arrested in Kisumu after a high-speed police chase involving a black Toyota Prado suspected of being used in a series of robberies.
Detectives from Kisumu Central intercepted the vehicle, registration number KDX 642Y, after a woman reported that she and her friends had been robbed of five mobile phones by people travelling in a similar vehicle.

Police said detectives acted on intelligence linking the Prado to the reported robbery and traced it to an area in Kisumu.
When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver allegedly ignored their orders and sped off, prompting a pursuit through the town.
Detectives later opened fire on the vehicle’s tyres, puncturing them near Oile Park, according to the police account.

The driver lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into an electric pole, damaging its front-right side.
The two occupants, identified as William Onyango Odhiambo and Felix Owino Onyango, were arrested as they attempted to flee from the wreckage.

A subsequent search of the vehicle led to the recovery of a black pistol and three mobile phones, which police said had been seized as exhibits.
Detectives are investigating the suspects’ possible involvement in a series of robberies in Kisumu and surrounding areas, including incidents described by police as cross-border robberies.

The suspects are being held at Kisumu Central Police Station as they undergo processing ahead of their expected arraignment in court.
The suspects’ alleged involvement in the robberies has not been established in court.
