Principal Secretary for Interior and National Administration Raymond Omollo says residents of the Nyanza region will support President William Ruto’s re-election bid in 2027 without conditions, citing development projects undertaken by the government in the region.
Omollo said the administration had initiated several projects in Nyanza, including road construction and the recruitment of additional teachers, as part of its commitment to improving the lives of Kenyans.
He maintained that Ruto had not been pressured into directing development projects to the region, saying the initiatives reflected the responsibilities of a government.
“President Ruto has delivered development projects across the Luo nation without anyone putting pressure on him. He has done so because that is what good leadership entails,” Omollo said.
He added that voters in Nyanza would assess the President’s performance based on the development projects and government programmes implemented in their communities.
“In 2027, the people of Nyanza will re-elect President Ruto based on what he has done for them,” he said.

The remarks come amid growing political discussions about possible cooperation between the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the 2027 General Election.
ODM leader Oburu Oginga recently indicated that there would be no conditions attached to Ruto’s re-election bid, even as some party leaders push for a formal written agreement between ODM and UDA.
Omollo spoke on Friday during the official opening of Manyatta B Police Station in Kisumu East Constituency. The facility was constructed through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF).
During the event, the PS also outlined government plans to improve the welfare of village elders, describing them as key players in maintaining peace and security at the grassroots.
He said the government had introduced a monthly stipend of Sh3,000 for village elders to facilitate their movement and help them carry out their responsibilities.

Omollo added that the government was planning to register the elders under the Social Health Authority (SHA) health insurance scheme.
He said the measures were intended to recognise the role village elders play in community leadership, conflict resolution and security management.
The PS also urged young people to maintain peace as the country approaches the 2027 General Election, warning them against being used to fuel political violence.
He noted that politicians seeking the same elective positions were increasingly engaging with one another despite their political differences.
“Politicians seeking the same positions are walking together and dining together. Young people should learn from this and refuse to be used to cause violence,” he said.
Omollo urged young people to pursue economic opportunities and constructive political engagement instead of engaging in confrontations driven by politicians’ interests.
After the police station opening, Omollo led a delegation of MPs in an economic empowerment exercise targeting traders in Kondele, Kisumu.
The initiative was aimed at supporting small-scale traders and improving livelihoods in the area.
