Preparations for the seventh edition of the County Assembly Sports Association (CASA) Games, scheduled to take place in Kisumu from 25 to 31 October, have been completed, organisers say.
The chairman of the national organising committee, Peter Imwatok, arrived in Kisumu on Friday ahead of the event, which is expected to attract about 10,000 visitors over five days.
Imwatok said venues for the various sporting activities had been identified, including Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium, Kisumu National Polytechnic, Kenyatta Sports Ground and Aga Khan Hall.
He said the games would feature several disciplines, including football, handball and golf. An eating competition has also been introduced for this year’s edition.
Imwatok, who was accompanied by Kisumu County Commissioner Mohamed Mwabudzo, said the games had been brought to Kisumu in honour of the late Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga.
Mwabudzo assured participants and visitors of adequate security throughout the event.
The games are scheduled to run from 25 to 31 October 2026.
