Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has invited leaders from across the Lake Region Economic Bloc (LREB) to attend the World Talent Conference (WTC) 2026, scheduled to take place in Kisumu from October 26 to 30.
Nyong’o called on deputy governors, senators, MPs, county executive committee members, members of county assemblies and other political, administrative, educational and community leaders to attend the international event.
He also urged young people, students, universities, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions, schools, community organisations, cultural groups, artists, innovators, business leaders and members of the public to participate.
The conference will take place at several venues in Kisumu, including The African Talent University (TATU), which will serve as the main host venue and secretariat.
Nyong’o said hosting the conference would strengthen Kisumu’s growing reputation as a destination for international conferences, education, innovation, investment, tourism and cultural exchange.
“The County Government of Kisumu welcomes this opportunity and calls upon all residents, institutions, public agencies and businesses to extend their fullest cooperation and hospitality to our visitors,” he said.

The governor said the event would give young people an opportunity to showcase their talents, engage with international experts, explore partnerships, access new markets and develop enterprises.
He also acknowledged the World Talent Federation, the African Talent Federation, The African Talent University, the WTC 2026 secretariat, participating institutions, development partners, sponsors and other stakeholders for their role in organising the conference.
Nyong’o urged residents and visitors to participate in the conference’s grand procession on Monday, October 26.
The procession will start at 7.30am at Jomo Kenyatta Sports Ground in Kisumu and proceed to The African Talent University in the Buoye-Mowlem area of Kisumu County.
TATU founder Professor Humphrey Obora said preparations for the conference had been completed, with the university’s main campus in Buoye serving as the event’s secretariat.
Obora said the programme would feature sports and recreational activities, including football, as well as exhibitions and opportunities for participants to showcase their innovations and other talents.

Upcoming musicians and other performers would also be given opportunities to display their abilities, he said.
He added that scouts and mentors would monitor the activities to identify and support promising talent.
Attendance at the conference will be free, with about 5,000 guests expected, according to Obora.
He said guests would be accommodated in Kisumu town and that only registered service providers would be permitted to provide services to conference participants.
Obora also said the organisers planned to hold a checkpoint next year, although he did not provide further details.
